Claude Code v2.1.291: permission-prompt and session-quit regression fixes#

Published by

Part of the Claude Code Version Tracker series. | Official Env Vars | Official Changelog

Claude Code v2.1.291 is a patch over v2.1.290. Its release notes list two fixes, both regressions: cloud sessions could drop your answers to permission prompts, and a session's last messages could be lost when you quit. Both are now resolved.

Two regressions undone#

The release notes for this build list exactly two items, and both are regression fixes.[1]

The first concerns permission prompts in cloud sessions. Permission prompts are how Claude Code asks before it acts, and you answer each one. In a cloud session that answer could be dropped; this build stops that, so your approvals and denials register again.

The second concerns quitting a session, where the last messages of a session could be lost. This build preserves them, so the end of a conversation survives a quit.

What These Tell Us#

v2.1.291 is a corrective patch. Every item its release notes carry is a regression fix, and both touch core session behavior: permission prompts in cloud sessions and the end of a session when you quit.

For day to day use the headline is reliability. A cloud session keeps your permission answers, and quitting no longer risks the tail of a conversation.
